1. I’m a painter walking through the woods; I set my
equipment down and decided to draw beautiful women. This women was imaginary, she
would be looking directly at me because I’m friendly, and so she has no reason
to walk away. She would be a very pretty women and she would be floating on top
of the water, like a magical being. There are beautiful glowing trees and bugs flying all around. I want the scene
to seem very mystical and relaxing. I would not make this women naked or nude
because I feel there is no need for this women to be running around the woods
without close on. She would most likely be wherein vines around her.
3.
.
In many pictures of women, they can be
somewhat degrating compared to pictures of men. Although in the picture to the
left Angelina Jolie is simplely standing there with confidence and showing off
her tatoo. Johnny Depp is in the picture to the right. He is also standing with
confidence and rocking a very nice hat. These celebraties seem to be depicted
as eqauls in these pictures. Although, each of these individuals have been
presented, less classy, depending on the photographer.
Questions for Discussion and Journaling
1. Yes, I beileve the aritists creating
these picture knew exactly what they were painting. Typically all artists have
a clear cut idea of what they wish to create before they begin. Although they
may have also noticed they were turnign these people and objects into to
possions. Putting themselves into their preception of this object, and showing
affection for the objects the invented. I feel berger would agree with my
ideas, because after creating a beautiful piece of art work some of your heart
goes into these painting. Also, making his painting an ideal image of the women
created, only being a unperfect person
in real life.
2. Pictures of women a presented
everywhere from television, magazings, and run way models. These images can be
presented in both classy and derogetory ways. Even tho most of the women in
this article presented are naked, you
have to take the picture as a whole. They somewhat seem to be praised, because
of the beautiful scenery behind them. I believe these images cannot be compared
because it is two totally different aspects of looking at a women. These styles
both have there own features and depict different ideas when you see them. In
this day in age I feel our picture of women have changed a lot. If you look at
many women in magazines now they are half naked and it somewhat sad. Looking at
pictures of Marylin Monore from the 80’s, she is presented so much more classy and
looks ten times more beauitful then women now.I believe the photography
industry is devolving.
Appling and Exploring ideas
1. One type of artwork presented in a
particular way, to me atleast, is male models. Honestly I just think they look
really femanine and its somewhat for a man the be a male model. I feel the way
women look at women in pictures is not the way women look at men and protray
them differently. I believe there is a redicculous painting gap between Bergers
painting and painting veiwed now. I only see pictures like Bergers in meusems.
Also there is many different rules of social society today, and its also
impossible to look at them with the same perspective.
3.
The ideas froms the 1970’s is suprizing, really relatable to how people
look at pictures now. They do not look the same as pictures from the 1970’s although
thoughts about them are still the same. Every man still believes he needs to be
envisioned as powerful and a provider. Although the way men look at pictures of
women might be somewhat more derogetory now, women still veiw these pictures in
the same way.
McCloud
Before you Read
1. My all time favorite cartoon is SpongBob
Squarepants. I still try to watch when I have time. Its one of the few cartoons
I still find funny. I see so many connections between me the sponge. All my
cousin even tell me, I am Spongebob! Him and me were basically souls mates and
we both laugh at stupid, immature things and mess with there neighbors, with
there bestfriend. Now that I think of it, I also used to work in a fast food
industry. After watching this show for many years in realised the similarities.
Questions for disscussion and Journaling
1. I feel many people relate to the
simplicity because we do not all the features of ourselfs, so it is easy for us
to understand presented in this way. I still watch cartoons to this day and I know
many people that also do the same. Everything is prefectly acceptable as long
it is moderation and dosent consume your entire life. I feel McCloud would say
its an amplification of our identification and it would be a simple way for
people at a young age to present themselves.
2. I feel it was a visual technique used
so the reader would understand the message he is trying to convey. It helps the
reader really understand that we can present ourselfs through our words, the
same way we can present them through images. Presented in this way opens your
mind to new ways of expression and I really enjoyed the way it was expressed. I
feel I wouldn’t of understood as many of his ideas presented in standard
format.
Applying and Exploring Ideas
1. Yes, because I really don’t enjoying
texts that elaborate, when they could easily be direct and to the point. It
made this a very interesting and easy read. I understood most of the main
points and sparked my interest in this topic. I think more english classes and
language classes could benefit from this. I feel many students have trouble
getting threw the information and visual imagery could easily solve this
problem. It would also be easier for students to express themselves in this
context.
2. McCloud feels as a yound adolesent
growing up it is easier for us to convey the most important person in your
life, yourself, through a cartoon. It easier to draw the simple details, instead
of drawing every zip and freckle on your face. Although I have seen many real
life images depicted to explain a subject. There are many examples of this,
such a looking a tmountains and automattically think of hiking. Many visual
images connect in my mind the certain words to help understand the concept more
easily.
